This Third Edition of the Chili Line includes 16 new pages, featuring photos and information that have come to light since the book was first published in 1996. One of the D&RGW's most beloved branches, the 100-mile-plus Santa Fe Branch connected the New Mexico capital to the Rio Grande's San Juan Extension at Antonito, Colorado, from 1881 until 1941. The book also includes more than 50 pages of historic photos and maps of the D&RGW line from Antonito to Chama, New Mexico. That 64-mile line survives, and now operates as the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
